Highland Renaissance repairs another project

YULAN, NY — Highland Renaissance volunteers got to work repairing their community beautification project, located at the Yulan crossroads, which was damaged earlier this year by an unknown motorist. The volunteers were determined to restore the award-winning project in time for the Von Steuben Day Parade on September 27. The project features a Yu-lan tree, a type of Japanese magnolia, which was planted in 2005 and recognized with a Sullivan Renaissance Award. The repair job is the third completed by the volunteers this year, following damage to the group’s gazebo in Barryville and its eagle observation shelter along the Delaware River. Highland Renaissance president Carol Roig said the group always welcomes new members. For more information contact Roig at 845/557-0343.
