Wing experts, chili maestros and vendors sought for festival

HONESDALE, PA — The Greater Honesdale Partnership seeks vendors for its Harvest & Heritage Days. This year’s festival will be held on Main Street on Saturday, October 11 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Sunday, October 12 from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

In addition to crafts and novelty food vendors, there will be music, the Farmers’ Market, exhibits and contests at the festival, which is sponsored by Wayne Bank. There will be a train excursion on Saturday from Hawley to Honesdale, and two fall foliage rides on Sunday from Honesdale to Hawley.

If you are interested in becoming a craft or food vendor call 570/253-5492.

The partnership also seeks the area’s best wing and chili makers for the third annual Wing & Chili Taste-off, which takes place during the festival on October 12.

Last year, Carl Williams of Dingmans Ferry took both the Judges’ Choice Award for All-Around Best and the People’s Choice award for his Smokin’ Hot Wings. The Orchard Tap House took the Peoples Choice Award for its Emmy’s Family Chili while Papa’s Primo Pizza walked off with the Judges Choice award for its Mama Yong’s Pepporoni Pizza Chili, making it two years in a row for an award for chili for Papa’s.

Restaurant owners or private individuals who interested in participating should email ghp@visithonesdalepa.com (put “Harvest & Heritage Days” in the subject line) or call 570/253-5492.
