Marathon dance benefits Damascus Citizens
BARRYVILLE, NY Dance for the River, a 12-hour marathon dance event to raise funds for Damascus Citizens for Sustainability, will be held on Saturday, October 4 from 12:00 noon to 12:00 midnight at the Carriage House Restaurant.
The event is like a walkathon. Participants ask friends, family and co-workers to sponsor them, and they dance as long as they can. All kinds of music will be played, starting with country at noon, and continuing with an hour each of rock,50s, American singers, disco, 60s rock, 70s rock, soul and R&B, big band swing, Latin, club electronic and slow dance.
The Carriage House Restaurant was built in the early 1900s and is recognized as a local landmark. Cocktails, snacks, lunch and dinner will be available.
Damascus Citizens for Sustainability is a grass-roots organization of volunteers who work to protect our homes, community and the Upper Delaware River Watershed, and has been a leader in the fight to restrain natural gas drilling. For more information visit damascuscitizens.org.
