Historical society sponsors antiques appraisal

NARROWSBURG, NY — The Tusten Historical Society’s Antique Sideshow will return to Tusten Town Hall on Bridge Street on Sunday, September 28 to from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Richard Axtell of Axtell’s Antiques and Appraisals, Hancock, will appraise two items for $6; $2 for each additional item.

Axtell has been in the business for over 40 years, and has a library of reference material of over 7,000 volumes about companies, items, finishes and mechanical workings. He values collections and estates, as well as doing public appraisals for historical societies.

Among the items brought to his last visit to Narrowsburg were an heirloom coffeepot, family Bibles, paintings, guns, antique jewelry and a birdcage. In the style of television’s popular Antique Roadshow, Axtell’s knowledgeable and witty repartee provides an entertaining program.

Free light refreshments and door prizes will be provided.
