Lumberland Cultural Series goes country

GLEN SPEY, NY — The Town of Lumberland Cultural Series will present a Country Heritage Music Revue on Sunday, September 21 at 2:00 p.m. at the Lumberland Town Hall, 1054 Proctor Road. It will feature country music artists Ron and Nancy OneSong.

The production will present the history of country music from the 1920s through the 1960s, including songs from artists such as Jimmie Rodgers, The Carter Family, Roy Acuff, Kitty Wells, Hank Williams, George Jones, Loretta Lynn and Patsy Cline. A “meet the artist reception” will follow the performance. Cake, coffee and punch will be served.

In addition to hosting music shows and barn dances at their home venue, the Medina Stone Farm, the OneSongs have performed at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, and have entertained internationally in Canada, France and England. Over the past decade, they have been featured at festivals and special events in the Northeast, including the 2005 New York State Fair, and the 2007 Central New York Bluegrass Association Annual Festival.

They have recorded five all-acoustic albums, and were inducted into the New York State Country Music Association Hall of Honors in 2003. An autobiography of their early music career, “Stories of OneSong,” was published in August.

The cost is $8 for adults, $4 for children. Tickets are available at the door.
