Scavenger hunt debuts as Movies in the Park series returns

HAWLEY, PA — Hawley’s Movies in the Park series will return Friday, September 19 with a showing of a classic Abbott and Costello film in Bingham Park. The screening will start at dark, but festivities will kick off before that with the premiere of “How Well Do You Know Hawley,” a scavenger-hunt trivia game starting at 6:30 p.m. at the bandstand. A children’s duck hunt will take place at the same time.

The movie is free, and popcorn, candy and beverages will be available for sale.

The scavenger-hunt game will challenge participants to find things in Hawley that they may have never noticed before.

“The landmarks that we’re asking people to find are things that they see every day, but probably don’t really notice,” said Dee Sabatino of Hawley’s Movies in the Park Committee. “It really should be a lot of fun.”

All of the proceeds raised go to the park. According to Sabatino, money raised from the event in previous years has enabled the town to get water in the park and help renovate the gazebo.

The movies in the park are presented by the Hawley Movies in the Park committee and the movies are provided by Michael Lehutsky and the Wayne County Drug Task Force.
