DVAA does a twofer
Two new exhibits make their debut in Narrowsburg
NARROWSBURG, NY The Delaware Valley Arts Alliance (DVAA) will open two shows on Friday, September 12: Organa in the Alliance Gallery downstairs and Body and Soul upstairs in the LOFT. There will be an artists reception from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Both shows will be on view until October 4.
Body and Soul is a group show, with works by Robert Colescott, Joan Glase, Jeanne Jaffe, Songyi Kim, Matt Pozorski, Ruth Rodriguez and Barbara Zweig.
The body tells a story. How that story is read is unique to each person, said artist and curator Kathleen Spicer, who has gathered the work of seven artists for the exhibit. I selected artists that tell their stories in unique ways certain to stir the imagination and make the viewer dig deeper and question the story. Heres the body; the soul is in the work and in the interpretation.
Organa is an exhibition of landscape photographs by Glenn Lieberman.
I photograph for intellectual stimulation, and for the pleasure of capturing and transforming images that provoke thought, feelings, or narrative, said Lieberman. Organa is a compilation of pictures captured and transformed from places he has lived or visited in recent years. The surfaces of these landscapes range from the serene to the lively, but Lieberman says, They are pulled together by a number of simultaneously active components, at least one of which is essential to the place.
The exhibits are sponsored by the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance, the Arts Council for Sullivan County, NY, and are made possible in part with funding from the Visual Arts Program of the New York State Council on the Arts.
Alliance Gallery is located at the Delaware Arts Center at 37 Main Street, Narrowsburg, NY. Hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. For more information visit ArtsAllianceSite.org or call 845/252-7576.
