Nature journaling at Grey Towers

MILFORD PA — A “Seeing Nature” weekend at Grey Towers National Historic Site, Milford, PA, will offer two workshops on Saturday, September 13 and Sunday, September 14 that will introduce the fundamentals of conservation field journaling and digital nature photography.

The workshops, to be led by artist/naturalist Jim Lockyer of Media, are for all skill levels from beginner to advanced. Each session runs from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The Nature Journaling workshop will be on Saturday, and is designed to inspire participants to keep a daily journal. An ability to draw is not required since this workshop encourages a variety of personal expression from drawing to the written word. Lockyer will discuss how nature journaling was used in the past to record conservation history. The field work will help participants hone their observation skills. An equipment list is available at natjour.com.

The Digital Nature Photography workshop will be on Sunday, and is designed to instruct participants how to capture dynamic and compelling nature photographs. Participants should bring their digital cameras and hardware and have a working knowledge of the camera. Fieldwork and classroom sessions will focus on composition and technique.
