PEEC offering September canoe trip

DINGMANS FERRY, PA — The Pocono Environmental Education Center (PEEC) will sponsor a weekend canoe trip from Friday, September 12 to Sunday, September 14. Participants will receive an introduction to overnight canoe camping, basic paddling skills and how to pack for an overnight outing. During the trip, the PEEC staff will also teach Leave No Trace (LNT) canoe travel and recreation practices that will show participants how to enjoy the great outdoors and still preserve the natural resources surrounding them.

The canoe trip costs $125 for PEEC members and $150 for non-members and includes all meals, program and transportation to launch sites. The trip does not include camping equipment and canoe rental fees, but PEEC will help participants rent equipment from local canoe liveries and outfitters. Participants must be 10 years old and over, and children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. A minimum of five people is needed to run this weekend.

PEEC is located near mile marker 8, within the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, in Dingmans Ferry.
