SULLIVAN COUNTY, NYHope springs eternal for high school athletes, strongest perhaps at the outset of a new season when dreams of great success loom strong and the prospect of achieving new milestones and/or winning titles provides an alluring incentive.
On August 18, the first day of practice for high school athletes, legions of players reported to their schools to begin the arduous two-week training camp that precedes the fall sports season, slated to begin just after Labor Day for most schools.

WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, NYAnother stellar season of the Sullivan County Womens Softball League was celebrated at the annual picnic held at the Firemens Park on August 23.
Trophies were handed out by league officers Kathy Jo Hoyt and Lori Kimmes to the Most Valuable and Most Improved players from the various teams in the league before the large trophies were accorded to the first, second and third place finishers of the regular season in both the A and B divisions, and to the playoff winners and runner ups from both divisions as well.

MONTICELLO, NYBecoming an impact player in baseball or softball is a year-round venture, and while the summer is nearly over, for those players who want to excel in the spring, the time for work is just beginning.
Pro Prospects Fall Baseball League has six roster spots left and offers two games of baseball every Wednesday for players ages 8 to 12, with its instructional staff as coaches. Call to register at 845/791-1749.
