The Platters bring that magic touch to Monticello Raceway

MONTICELLO, NY — Herb Reed & The Platters will perform such Platters hits as “Only You (And You Alone),” “The Great Pretender” and “(You’ve Got) The Magic Touch” at Monticello Gaming & Raceway this Sunday, August 31. The show starts at 6:00 p.m. with doors opening at 5:00 p.m.

Reed has been touring as The Platters or Herb Reed & The Platters since he founded the group in 1953, and his Platters group is the only one that features a member of the original four. The current band, made up of Wayne Miller, Sharla Soloman, William Newton and Billy Cox, along with Reed, has been performing the original group’s hits since 2005. The Platters recorded over 400 songs, sold over 200 million records and have performed throughout the world, winning numerous awards and a ticket to the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame along the way. They also appeared in over 27 movies, such as “Rock Around the Clock,” “Girl’s Town,” and more.
