Bring the summer to a close with an old-fashioned picnic

PIKE COUNTY, PA — The Pike County Public Library (PCPL) will hold an old-fashioned picnic on Saturday, September 6 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on the building site of the new Dorothy Warner Main Branch on East Harford Street. For $2 a ticket, picnickers will get a hot dog, ice cream and a cold drink, along with a hearty serving of family fun.

There will be free face painting for the kids and, in keeping with PCPL’s focus on conservation issues, a special demonstration of birds of prey (hawks, eagles, owls, falcons and vultures) from the Delaware Valley Raptor Center. The festivities will also include a children’s book sale, conducted by the Friends of PCPL (with proceeds going to support library programming) and other family-friendly offerings.

Library board members will be on hand to talk about how an improved library system could do more to help Pike County advance its economic well-being, enhance educational opportunities, offer cultural benefits to our community and serve as a resource for anyone interested in preserving our environment.

Picnic sponsors include Altec Lansing, the L.R. Costanzo Company and the Pike County Library. More sponsorship support is welcome.
