Learn how to fight Japanese knotweed
Conservancy group adopts a stand to combat
ROWLAND, PA The Lackawaxen River Conservancy (TLRC) is adopting an infestation of Japanese knotweed, one of the most aggressive invasives in the Upper Delaware region, for eradication. The stand is on the shore of the Lackawaxen River at a location along the towpath, approximately one mile upstream from the Rowland Café. Concerned residents throughout the watershed are invited to join TLRC members on Saturday, August 23, at 10:00 a.m. for this hands-on effort.
Japanese knotweed can cause serious riverbank erosion, crowd out native plant species and destroy habitat for native wildlife. The purpose of this event is two-fold: to control the spread of this aggressive invasive at a specific site, and to provide instruction in the use of the JK Injection Tool, the newest and most environmentally safe and effective means of control. Participants will gain firsthand experience in controlling the invasive and assistance in combating infestations on their own property.
