LUELLA B. COSGROVE
Luella B. Cosgrove of Welcome Lake, PA died Saturday, August 16, 2008 at the Ellen Memorial Health Care Facility while under the care of Wayne Memorial Hospice. She was 85.
She and her husband, Earl, celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on October 24, 2007.
She was born January 17, 1923 in Beach Lake, PA to the late Louis and Nellie Gregory Troop.
She was a graduate of Hawley High School, Hawley, PA in 1941. She and her husband were part owners of the Twin Lakes Boarding House in Welcome Lake and later operated their own construction business. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Narrowsburg, NY and a former member of the Welcome Lake Ladies Aid.
Surviving are her husband; daughters Eileen and husband Ron Chorba; Kathy and husband Bill Taninies III; and son Ricky and wife Tara. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Troop; a half brother, William Case; and a half sister, Shirley Case Mott.
A memorial service will be held at the United Methodist Church. Narrowsburg, NY on Thursday, August 21, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place at a later date at Lakeview Cemetery, Welcome Lake.

KENNETH M. CRANDALL JR
Kenneth M. Crandall Jr. of Narrowsburg, NY, a lifelong resident of the area, died on Thursday, August 14, 2008 at Wayne Woodlands Manor, Wavmart, PA. He was 76.
The son of the late Kenneth M. And Emma Muller Crandall Sr., he was born May 19, 1932 in Yulan, NY.
Kenneth was a retired carpenter/contractor. He was a past board member of the Narrowsburg Central School District, Narrowsburg, NY. A family statement reads: Kenneth was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He took great pride in his family. He was a craftsman and made works of art for his wife and family. He will truly be missed.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Florence Poth Crandall; four children, Jeffrey and wife Tina of Newark Valley, NY, Cheryl Marshall and her husband John of Binghamton, NY, Brian Crandall of Hawley, PA and Kevin Crandall of Albany, NY; seven grandchildren, Jillian Crandall, Lauren Crandall, John Marshall, Bradley Crandall, Benjamin Crandall, Andrew Crandall and Alexander Crandall; two brothers, Douglas Crandall of Connecticut and Richard Crandall and wife Betty of Narrowsburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to call on Friday, August 15 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Saturday, August 16 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, Narrowsburg.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 16 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at St. Francis Cemetery, Narrowsburg.
PATRICIA F. HAESCHE
Patricia F. Haesche of 119 Ogden Road, Groton, NY, passed away on Thursday, August 14, 2008 in the Cortland Regional Medical Center, Cortland, NY. She was 67.
Pat was born on September 12, 1940 in Wayne County, PA, the daughter of the late Delvin and Vera Kellam Highhouse.
She graduated from Delaware Valley Central School, Callicoon, NY in 1958 and attended Atlantic Union College in Massachusetts. She married George Haesche in Hortonville in 1960.
She was a member of the Cortland Seventh-day Adventist Church and was employed at Smith Corona, Fays and Tops, where she worked for 33 years as a cashier. Pat, along with her husband George and others, started Cortland Christian Radio, Inc. WDRX-LP 100.7 FM in 2001 and served as secretary.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Kevin Haesche of Lodi, CA and Erich Haesche of Groton, and their wives; five grandchildren, Alex, Zachery, Leah, Jeremiah and Levi; two brothers, Ronald Highhouse of Callicoon and Milton Highhouse of Belleville, IL; her sister, Linda Gotham of Palm Coast, FL; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pat was predeceased by her daughter, Karen Patricia Haesche, and her mother.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 23 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Donald L. Barber Funeral Home, 5016 N. Main St., Homer, NY.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 24 in the Cortland Seventh-day Adventist Church, 106 N. Main St., Cortland, with Pastor Dustin Hall officiating. Pat will be laid to rest in McLean Cemetery following the funeral.

EVELYN E. HUBER
Evelyn E. Huber, a resident of Fremont Center since 1986 and a retired real estate agent, died Friday, August 15, 2008 at home. She was 88.
The daughter of William and Theresa Long Sheehan, she was born August 23, 1919 in New York City.
She was a member of St. Marys Church in Obernburg, NY and the Rosary Society of the church.
A family statement reads, She was a great mom and aunt.
Survivors include her daughter, Pamela T. Huber of Fremont Center; two nephews, Terrence and Kevin Sheehan; and her goddaughter, Donna Sinram.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, August 18 at St. Marys Church in Obernburg.
Burial will be made in St. Marys Cemetery, Obernburg.

ANDREW G. HUEBLER
Andrew G. Huebler of Shohola, PA passed away Thursday, August 7, 2008 at home. He was 48.
He was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, Local 1536, New York, NY.
The son of John and Nancy Decosmo Huebler, he was born October 21, 1959 in Queens. He was married to Nancy Sanfilippo.
Survivors include his wife; his children, Andrew C. Huebler of Murfreesboro, TN, Corinne Huebler, Denise Huebler and Gregory Huebler, all of Helmetta, NJ; his mother, Nancy Huebler of Shohola, PA; three brothers, John C. Huebler and Douglas Huebler, both of Staten Island, and Stephen Huebler of Milwaukee, WI; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at Stroyan Funeral Home, Milford, PA on Saturday, August 9 at 8:00 p.m.
Cremation will take place at H.G. Smith Crematory, Stroudsburg, PA at the convenience of the family.
YVONNE HUGHES
Yvonne Hughes, a lifetime resident of Jeffersonville, NY and a retired supervisor for AT&T in Monticello, NY died on August 14, 2008 at Hackensack Medical Center Hackensack, NJ. She was 81.
The daughter of Archie and Julia Norris Misner, she was born in Callicoon, NY on March 29, 1927.
She was a member of St. Tammany Chapter Order of the Eastern Star of the Jeffersonville Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include a sister-in-law, Anita C. Misner of New Rochelle, NY; three nephews, L. Michael Misner and wife Susan of White Plains, NY, David R.A. Misner and wife Katherine of North Hills, PA and Jonathan D. Misner and wife Lu-Anne of New Rochelle; a niece, Elizabeth S. Misner of Mt. Vernon, NY; and eight grand nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her husband, Donald Hughes; and her two brothers, Leonard and Duane Misner.
Friends may call on Friday, August 22 at Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home, Jeffersonville from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Services will be held on Saturday, August 23 at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. The Reverend Lee Andrews will officiate.
Burial will be in Callicoon Center Cemetery, Callicoon Center.

ANNA KACZMAR
Anna Kaczmar of Narrowsburg, NY, a longtime resident of the area, died on Tuesday, August. 12, 2008 at St. Lukes Hospice, Bethlehem, PA. She was 88.
The daughter of the late Basil and Dvoryanin Derefinka, she was born Jan 1, 1920 in Ukraine.
Anna was the widow of Philip Kaczmar, who passed away in 1987. They were married in Kohur, Germany in 1944 and were married for 43 years. Anna was a member of St. Francis Xavier R.C. Church, Narrowsburg.
A family statement reads, Anna was a loving and caring mother and grandmother. She was a strong person and took good care of her family. She will greatly be missed by all.
She is survived by her children, Bohdan Kaczmar and wife Angelina, Stephan Kaezmar and wife Alexandra, Olga Bardowell and husband Melbourne and Anna Campfield and husband Floyd; grandchildren Christina Harlows, Delia Tabani, Edward Ingvoni, Paul Kaezmar, Michael Kaczmar, Anna Peary, Alex Bardowell, Phylyp Bardowell, Nikole Yewchuk, Crystal Weston and Sabrina Campfield.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, August 14 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Andrews Ukrainian Church, Camphall, NY. Christian burial will follow in Holy Spirit Cemetery.
ALLEN W. KNAPP SR
Allen W. Knapp Sr. of Glen Spey, NY, passed away on Saturday, August 16, 2008 at his home. He was 72.
He was born on June 9, 1936 in Pine Bush, NY. He was the son of the late Elwin H. and Dorothy Terwillger Knapp.
Allen was a motor euipment operator for the Town of Lumberland Highway Department. He was a member of the Roosa-Fleming VFW Post 161, Port Jervis, NY. He served the United States Army during the Korean War. He was also a member of the Pond Eddy United Methodist Church, Pond Eddy, NY and past member of Glen Spey Rod and Gun Club.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Caslin Knapp; his four daughters: Debbie Lawerence and husband Patrick of Interlaken, NY, Tammy Lynn Worzel and husband Donald of Shohola, PA, Jill Baines and husband Daryl of Highland Lake, NY and Kim Kampka and husband, Joseph of Matamoras, PA; and his son, Alan W. Knapp Jr. and wife Casey of Glen Spey.
Memorial services were held Wednesday, August 20 at The Pond Eddy United Methodist Church, Pond Eddy, NY with the Rev. Nancy Vonderhorst officiating. Burial was in Glen Spey Cemetery, Glen Spey, NY.

EMMA M. KUHN
Emma M. Kuhn of Star, NC, formerly of Shohola, PA, passed away on Wednesday, August 13, 2008. She was 94.
She was born in Lackawaxen, PA on September 2, 1913, the daughter of the late Christina Hessberger Decker and Ervin Decker. She was a longtime resident of Shohola before moving to Star.
Emma was site manager for the office of Pike County Area Agency on Aging in Milford, PA for many years; a member and past president of the Ecker-Haupt VFW Auxiliary, Lackawaxen; a member of Saint Jacobi Lutheran Church and choir and Ladies Aid in Shohola; and the Lackawaxen Fire Dept. Auxiliary.
She is survived by her loving granddaughter, Carrie Letts and husband Ernie; great-grandchildren Marina and Nathan Letts; her niece, Gladys Haas; and many cousins.
She is predeceased by her husband, Arthur Kuhn and her son, Arthur Kuhn.
She was cremated and memorial services were held at Saint Jacobi Lutheran Church, Shohola, Wednesday, August 21 with Pastor Mary Owens officiating.
BURTON S. STERNBURG
The Honorable Burton S. Sternburg passed away Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at his home in Chevy Chase, MD from lung cancer. He was 80.
A native of Boston, Judge Sternburg earned his undergraduate and law degrees from Georgetown University where he was also a member of the college boxing team. Specializing in labor law, Judge Sternburg earned a lifetime federal appointment as an Administrative Law Judge with the Labor Department in 1973. In 1979, he was selected to be in the first group of judges for the Federal Labor Relations Authority, which was established that year by President Jimmy Carter. He retired from the bench in 1994.
Judge Sternburg is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mildred; three sons, Jon, who serves as a physician in Narrowsburg, NY and Honesdale, PA and his wife Kathryn, Charles and his wife Louise and Fred and his wife Lauren; four grandchildren, Rebecca, Joshua, Samuel and David; and a brother, Frederick and his wife Dorothy.
Funeral services were Monday, August 11 at Washington Hebrew Congregation, Washington, DC. Internment followed at Garden of Remembrance Memorial Park, Clarksburg, MD.

MELVIN J. WHITE
Melvin J. White of Jessup, PA, died Saturday evening, August 16, 2008 at the Community Medical Center, Scranton, PA following an illness. He was 69.
His wife is the former Barbara Chadwick. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on August 2.
Born April 25, 1939 in Galilee, PA, he was the son of the late Lorenzo and Cora Conklin White.
He was a member of the Peckville United Methodist Church and a former member of the Tunkhannock Moose Lodge No. 1276. He was an avid bowler and belonged to the Mid Valley Bowling League. He also enjoyed golfing and was a Dodgers, Phillies and Cowboys fan.
He is survived by two daughters: Patricia Vagnarelli of Jessup and Donna and husband Gerry Praefke of Dickson City, PA; one son, Brian and wife Maria White of Archbald, PA; three sisters, Helen Field of Lake Ariel, PA, Jeanette Rutledge of Lakewood, PA and Marge Schwab of Honesdale, PA; three brothers, Richard White of Griffin, GA, Jack White of Beach Lake, PA and Byron White of Bethany, PA; six grandchildren, Melissa, Megan, Brian, Jr., Sarah, Andrea and Becca; one great granddaughter, Laynie; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Evelyn Smith.
The funeral was held Wednesday, August 20 at the Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., Carbondale, PA, with the Rev. Sharon Dietz officiating. Interment followed at Sandy Banks Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA.
