Sankofa Live

Drumming, dance and mythmaking at CAS

LIVINGSTON MANOR, NY — The Catskill Arts Society (CAS) at 48 Main Street will present Sankofa Live, an evening of African drumming and dance, on Saturday, August 23 at 8:00 p.m.

Middletown-based Sankofa (which in the Twi language of Ghana means “going back to roots”) is led by master drummer Maxwell “Kofi” Donkor, with a company of drummers and dancers. The lively and interactive evening is presented in conjunction with Making Myths, a shared exhibition of work by sculptors Lynne S. Mayocole and Daina Shobrys currently running in the gallery. The project is made possible in part with funding from the Sullivan County Arts & Heritage Grant funded by the Sullivan County Legislators.

A Q&A will take place directly after the performance and light refreshments will be served.

Admission costs $5.
