Catch Falcon Fever at Morgan Outdoors
LIVINGSTON MANOR, NY Morgan Outdoors at 46 Main Street will host a talk and book signing with award-winning author, wildlife photographer and magazine editor Tim Gallagher, author of Falcon Fever, on Saturday, August 23 at 4:00 p.m. Gallaghers latest book details his most recent adventure, following in the footsteps of 13th-century Emperor Frederick II, a Renaissance man and the greatest falconer who ever lived. The event will appeal to lovers of history, birds of prey, travel and sport.
Gallagher is best known for being one of the re-discoverers of the ivory-billed woodpecker, which scientists had thought to be extinct since the 1940s. He is especially interested in birds of prey, and the ancient sport of falconry has been a passion that has driven him since childhood.
The art of falconry has spanned continents and millennia. Falcon Fever, explores the little-known subculture of falconry in an amalgam of memoir, history and travelogue, including the story of how falconry may have saved his life. Gallaghers talk will be illustrated with photographs of spectacular castles and hunting areas, hand-painted illustrations from his illuminated manuscript on falconry and pictures of modern falconers hunting.
Advance registration is recommended, as seating is limited.
