Quaker Fair returns
GRAHAMSVILLE, NY This years Quaker Fair will take place on Saturday, August 23 at the historic Quaker meeting house on State Route 55, across from the fairgrounds, rain or shine. It will run from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
The fair boasts a variety of crafts and art by local artisans, including Anne Marie Kremers pottery, Carol Denmans natural cards, arrangements and photographs of local scenes; Elise Hornbecks delicate and evocative paintings of local and historic places, with prints and notecards to match; and Ann Higgins small watercolors, prints and notecards and a unique pen and ink calendar (the 2009 edition will be available). Local history buffs will have an opportunity to talk to historian Carol Smythe, who will be available until early afternoon to share new findings in local history. She will have copies of the CD Voices in the Valley. There will also be a childrens tent with a special art project for the kids and a White Elephant sale.
There will be home-baked delights and healthy snacks to eat in the meetinghouse, still used for worship by local Quakers, and a chance to ask questions about Quakerism.
