A celebration of Forestburgh

FORESTBURGH, NY — Forestburgh Day will be celebrated this year on Saturday, August 16. The day will start at 8:30 a.m., when a 5K run/walk at Lake Joseph, to benefit Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties, steps off. At 9:30 a.m. at the Forestburgh Town Hall, there will be a Colonial demonstration at the log cabin by the Navasing Long Rife re-enactors, and at 10:30 a.m. visitors can tour Philwold Exotic Flora and Fauna at the town hall.

Starting at 10:00 a.m. at the firehouse, there will be artisans, demonstrations and exhibits, including antique and classic photos. A tribute to the Forestburgh Fire Company No. 1 will be held at 12:00 noon, and at 1:00 p.m. Sullivan County Historian John Conway will present a history of silent films in Forestburgh. Some of these silent films will be shown at the firehouse at 2:00 p.m.

There will be live music by the Swing Shift Orchestra from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m., along with a chicken barbeque sponsored by the fire department.

All events but the barbeque are free.
