MARIE C. DAVIS

Marie C. Davis of Port Jervis, NY, died on Sunday, August 3, 2008 at Middletown Park Manor Middletown, NY. She was 70.

The daughter of the late George and Helena Grimm Hossann, she was born on September 6, 1937 in Secaucus, NJ. Marie was a member of Denton Presbyterian Church, the Greenville VFW, a former member of the Huguenot Lions Club, the snack lady at the BBS (Bible School in Slate Hill) and a Girl Scout leader in Minisink, NY.

Marie is survived by her husband, Raymond, at home; sons William G. Mathis and wife Sindee of Sparrowbush, NY and Raymond C. Davis Jr. and wife Bambi of Middletown, NY; daughters Rita C. York and husband Harry of Washington, FL and Rachel C. Davis-Harrington and husband Richard of Port Jervis; two brothers, George Hossann of Greenville, NY and Dennis Hossann of Lake George, NY; sister Cecelia of North Carolina; ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by one sister, Helena W. Hossann.

The funeral service was held Wednesday, August 6 at the funeral home. Pastor Peter Johnson officiated. Cremation will be private.

MARTHA HARRIET GIRARDI

Martha Harriet Girardi of Eldred. NY, a retired assistant to the principal for the New York Board of Education/ Joseph Pulitzer Intermediate School #145, died Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at Catskill Regional Medical Center, Harris, NY. She was 95.

The daughter of the late William and Nicollette Antonochi Galardi, she was born in New York City on March 9, 1913. She was the loving wife of 63 years of Anthony Girardi, who survives.

Martha was a member of St. Anthony of Padua R.C. Church, Yulan, NY. She was a member of District Council 37 of New York.

A family statement reads: “Martha was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, truly a loving and caring person. Her granddaughter Amy was the light of her life. She will truly be missed by all.”

She is survived by her husband; son Richard Girardi and wife JoAnne of Eldred; granddaughter Amy Girardi; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by six brothers and sisters, Leo, Stephen, Rose, Michael, Thomas and Lillian.

A mass of Christian Burial was held Thursday, July 31, 2008 at St. Anthony’s of Padua R.C. Church, Yulan. Burial followed in the parish cemetery in Eldred.

WILLIAM J. MULLIN

William J. Mullin of Greeley, PA died Sunday, July 27, 2008 at Bon Secours Community Hospital, Port Jervis, NY. He was 73.

The son of the late Steven and Mary Hanlon Mullin, he was born October 4, 1934 in Bayonne, NJ. He was a retired carpenter for New York City District Council of Carpenters.

Survivors include a daughter, Veronica Mullin of Las Vegas, NV; a son, Kenneth of Decanter, GA; a sister, Kathleen Reynolds of Greeley; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his daughter, Kathe.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. John Neumann, Lords Valley, on Wednesday, July 30, with the Rev. Paul Mullen officiating.


ALBERTA SCHMAUSS

Alberta Schmauss of Hampton, VA, passed away on Wednesday, July 2, 2008. She was 89.

She was born in Kenoza Lake, NY on January 31, 1919 to the late Henry and Rowena Klaus.

Alberta graduated from Lenox Hill Hospital School of Nursing in New York City. She worked at Callicoon Hospital and also in home health care with Litson Home Health in Monticello. She retired as director of nurses of the Sullivan County Infirmary, Liberty, NY where she gave compassion and love to every patient she cared for.

Alberta spent many summers helping run the family business, Maple Grove Farm Boarding House.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Jeffersonville in Jeffersonville, NY, and when she moved to Hampton, VA to live with her daughter, she joined the North Hampton Presbyterian Church.

Alberta is survived by two daughters, Roberta Rittenhauser and husband Bill of Bellfountain, OH and Karen Nicoletti and husband Michael of Hampton, VA; two grandsons, Scott and Todd Rittenhauser; three great-grandchildren, Alexander, Mallory and Trey Rittenhauser.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Schmauss; her granddaughter, Michelle Nicoletti; and her sister, Dorothy Stagl.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
