UDC raft trip attracts 101

MATAMORAS, PA — The Upper Delaware Council’s (UDC) 20th annual Family Raft Trip drew 101 individuals to the Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River on August 3, fulfilling the UDC’s goal of promoting awareness and stewardship of the river through direct contact with the recreational resource.

Rafters launched Sunday’s river trip from Minisink Ford, NY and floated an eight-mile stretch downriver to Pond Eddy, NY. Lander’s River Trips provided the rafts, paddles, life vests and shuttle transportation.

The turnout included 89 adults and teens, and 12 children ages 12 and under.

The 2009 UDC Family Raft Trip is scheduled for Sunday, August 2, and will highlight a different section of the river. The event is publicized through the Council’s website at upperdelawarecouncil.org and its free quarterly newsletter, The Upper Delaware, as well as direct mail and media notices.
