Liberty Free extends run of ‘Kinfolks’

LIBERTY, NY — The Liberty Free Theatre will extend performances of “Kinfolks and Mountain Music,” three one-act plays with bluegrass music that follow the coming to maturity of a young boy in the coal country around Hazard, KY. The theatre will add performances Thursday, August 7 through Sunday, August 10 in addition to shows Thursday, July 31 through Sunday, August 3. Curtain times are 7:30 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays, and Sunday matinees at 3:00 p.m.

“The show’s unique mix of music, story-telling and comedy/drama have created an excited word-of-mouth response from our audiences,” director Paul Austin said, “People from all over the county are coming to Liberty to see the play.”

The cast includes Cassandra Brown, James Euto, Mike Frizalone and Christopher Wells. Alexis Siroc has designed the set and Jon-Jon Thomas the lights. The music for the evening will be performed by Paul Jannicola, and features original Kentucky bluegrass songs by James Reams and Tina Aridas.

Performances are free but seating is limited and reservations are recommended. The audience is invited to gather after the performance for food, drink and music.
