Junk Jam returns for a fourth year

MOUNTAINDALE, NY — The fourth annual Junk Jam will be held on Main Street in Mountaindale on Sunday, August 3 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. This is a free environmental awareness outdoor concert, hosted by the Mountaindale Community Development Project. There will be music, kids activities, a food court to buy lunch, a vendor’s marketplace to browse, plus jamming time at the end when everyone can join in to make their own music.

Junk Jam is held on the lawn of the former Mountaindale School at 105 Main Street, and will include a tour of the new labyrinth and the unveiling of window murals by local artist Michael McKee of Moydan Art. There will be a karate demonstration at 12:30 p.m. by the martial artists of Upstate Karate of Mountaindale.

Musical entertainment will range from the hot swing tunes and bouncy Klezmer beats of the Saints of Swing to “Music to Heal the Earth” by Carol Smyth, Alan Sorensen, cast members of the Sullivan County Dramatic Workshop’s musicals and other local entertainers.
