Street festival in Honesdale

HONESDALE, PA — Honesdale’s merchants will hold their 48th annual Street Festival & Sidewalk Sales on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, July 24, 25 and 26. Main Street will be filled with merchandise offered by local stores, crafters and local non-profits.

There will be music under the Fred Miller Pavilion on all three days. Visitors to the greater Honesdale area will also delight in the 2008 Wayne County Arts Alliance project, “Bench Mark.” These benches, imaginatively decorated by local artists, are located in businesses all around Honesdale and in Wayne County. For specific locations and more information, call 570/253-6850.

The Wayne County Farmers Market will enhance the festivities on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. (located trackside in front of the Visitors Center, one block off of Main Street), featuring many items made and grown locally.

Other recommended stop-offs are the newly expanded and remodeled Wayne County Historical Society, located at 810 Main Street. The Historic Honesdale Fire Museum, located on North Main Street just over the bridge, offers visitors the chance to see early fire memorabilia and will be open Saturday from 12:00 noon to 3:00 p.m.

For more information call 570/253-5492.
