Take a virtual tour of the Catskill High Peaks

LIVINGSTON MANOR, NY — Author, editor and accomplished high peak hiker Carol Stone White will be at Morgan Outdoors, 46 Main Street on Saturday, July 26 at 6:00 p.m. She will present a slide-show program, Catskill Peaks and Trails, and sign copies of the new book, “Catskill Peak Experiences,” which she edited.

The slide show will take the audience on a trip along three major trails in the Catskill Forest Preserve: the renowned 24.75-mile Devil’s Path, which traverses five Catskill high peaks and a shoulder of Hunter Mountain; the 23.9-mile Escarpment Trail, which snakes along the famous Catskill “Wall of Manitou,” as Native Americans called it, over 3,940-foot Blackhead Mountain and Windham High Peak; and the 9.75-mile Slide-Cornell-Wittenberg Trail, which ascends the Catskill’s highest peak, Slide Mountain, and two other high peaks. White will also have information on joining the Catskill 3500 Club and its hiking schedules.

“Catskill Day Hikes for All Seasons” and the comprehensive guidebook, “Catskill Trails,” will also be available to be signed.

This event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
