Celebrating an iconic Western novelist
LACKAWAXEN, PA The National Park Service and the Zane Greys West Society will host this years Zane Grey Festival from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 19, and Sunday, July 20 at the Zane Grey Museum.
Grey was a prolific writer of Western novels who resided in Lackawaxen from 1905 to 1918. The festival will highlight Zane Greys baseball, writing, and fishing careers. There will be exhibits covering Zane Greys fishing accomplishments, and speakers will discuss many aspects of the authors public and private life.
There will be plenty of activities for kids as well. Girls are invited to bring their American Girl dolls at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. to share with others, while you listen to a story about Samantha. Afterward, everyone will make fans like those Samantha would have used in the summer of 1904. Games and activities direct from the Wild West will be planned for the afternoon.
