Green frog greeter
This Northern green frog perched at the front entrance to The River Reporters offices on Erie Avenue in Narrowsburg, NY last week. Mesmerized by a gentle rainfall, the glowing green amphibian posed for a quick photo shoot before leaping down a set of stone steps leading to Little Lake Erie behind the building.

| Northern green frogs subsist on a diet of insects, worms, small fish and crayfish. They are characterized by unique vocal calls similar to the glunk of a plucked loose banjo string. The front of the frogs head ends in a blunt point.

| Though similar in appearance to the bullfrog, the green frog can be differentiated by dorsolateral ridges, which are folds of skin that extend from behind the round eardrum, along the back, ending about midway down each side.
