Gardens of delight

Hawley holds its second annual garden tour

HAWLEY, PA — Hawley’s second annual garden tour, scheduled for Saturday, July 12, will feature scenery from secret alcoves to lush landscapes and every type of garden in between. A total of 10 local business owners and residents will open their gardens and share their gardening secrets with tour participants, who can walk or drive through town to visit each of the venues.

The tour begins on the corner of Keystone Street and Main Avenue in front of Torte Knox Restaurant. When participants register, they will be given a map and a ticket. Each of the garden attendants will mark the ticket so that tourists will know which gardens they have visited and which they still have to see.

Tour participants can start the tour as early as 9:00 a.m. Most of the gardens will be open only until 1:30 p.m., so early starts are recommended.

“There are a lot of fantastic gardens to see,” tour organizer Dee Sabatino said. “So, the earlier people leave, the more time they will have to spend at each garden.”

The garden tour is sponsored this year by Village Bath at Miss Elly’s Antiques and the Downtown Hawley Partnership.

For advance tickets, call 570/226-0356. Advance tickets can also be purchased at Teeters’ Furniture, corner of Main Avenue and Church Street, The Settlers Inn on Main Avenue or at the Looking Glass Gallery, also on Main Avenue. Tickets cost $15.

For more information call 570/226-0356.
