Conservation district winners announced
PIKE COUNTY, PA The winners have been announced in a recent contest held by the Pike County Conservation District. Gloria Derflinger has won a Delaware Highlands Conservancy one-year membership and T-shirt; Charlotte and Gene McMahon have won a $250 gift certificate for a septic pump-out donated by Allstate Septic Systems, LLC; Chris Schlegel has won a soil test kit donated by Pike County Penn State Cooperative Extension; and Jamie and Michael Montague won a rain barrel that was purchased from the Wayne Conservation District.
Individuals were entered into the contest if they completed a survey contained in an insert distributed in 15,000 newspapers, titled Pike County: Where People, Land and Water Meet. The publication was developed by the district in cooperation with the Delaware Highlands Conservancy and the Delaware Township Supervisors to provide information and tips for homeowners on stormwater concerns, water conservation, forest land preservation, septic system maintenance and protecting water resources.
The insert was funded by the League of Women Voters of Pennsylvania Citizen Education Fund through a Section 319 Federal Clean Water Act grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.
