Summer stamps her feet at Bethel
Critics say Shes still got the hot stuff
BETHEL, NY The Queen of Disco, Donna Summer, brings her danceable mix of R&B, soul, pop, funk, rock, disco and avant-garde electronica to Bethel Woods Center for the Arts on Friday, July 11, as part of her North American Stamp Your Feet tour. The show begins at 8:00 p.m., with doors opening at 5:30 p.m.
Summers hybrid of American soul and European synthesizer-based music reached its peak in 1980 with the release of the critically acclaimed album, The Wanderer. Her success was rivaled in the disco world only by the Bee Gees.
In 2004, she was among the first artists inducted into the Dance Music Hall of Fame. Two of her most recent singles, Youre So Beautiful (2004) and I Got Your Love (2005), reached the Top 10 on both the Billboard Hot Dance Airplay and Hot Dance Music/Club Play charts.
Summer released her first album of new material in 17 years, Crayons, on May 20. Remixes of the track Im A Fire recently topped Billboards Hot Dance Club Play chart. The first official single from the album, Stamp Your Feet currently stands at #1 on the Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart.
She still has the hot stuff, said USA Today. Twenty years after discos heyday, Summer is still having the time of her life, said the Chicago Sun Times.
