DONALD R. HILL JR
Donald R. Hill Jr. of North Branch, NY, a machinist at Cosmo Optics in Middletown, NY, died Sunday, June 22, 2008 at home. He was 69.
The son of the late Donald Hill Sr. and Helen Hunsinger Hill, he was born on May 9, 1939 in Elmira, NY.
He was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church and the American Legion. He enjoyed playing tennis and fishing. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1956 to 1960.
Survivors include his loving wife, Violet Kautz Hill at home; two daughters, Cheryl Lachowitz and her husband Scott of Concord, NC and Cathy Eschenberg and her husband William of Callicoon, NY; one son, Donald Hill III of North Branch; three sisters, Joan Pound and her husband Joe of Lindey, NY, Patricia Denton Dalley of California and Marsha Gurney and her husband William of Las Vegas, NV; his stepmother, Margaret Hill of California.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his stepfather, Joe Levenduski; two brothers, Douglas Hill and Ronald Laverne; and his brother-in-law, Fred Dalley.
Services were held on June 27, 2008 at the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home in Jeffersonville, with Pastor Kit Robison officiating. Burial was in Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery in Liberty.

JOHN DONALD JOHANNSEN
John Donald Johannsen died on Sunday, June 15, 2008 at his home in Milford, PA. He was 72.
The son of the late Jack and Victoria Tresnauck Johannsen, he was born December 22, 1935 in Brooklyn, NY.
He was a retired mechanical draftsman and an Army Signal Corps veteran in Fort Belvoir, VA and stationed in Darmstabt, Germany.
Survivors include three sons, Mark Johannsen of Torrington, CT, Christopher Johannsen of Denver, CO and Peter Johannsen of Phoenix, AZ; one daughter, Jan Case of Rochester, NY; one brother, Paul Johannsen of Mohegan Lake, NY; one sister, Maryanne Paccioppo of Staten Island, NY; 10 grandchildren and three nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his former wife, Ann Olsen Johannsen; his companion, Maureen McKnight; and his sister, Catherine Johannsen.
Committal services were held at Long Island National Cemetery, Farmingdale, NY on Tuesday, July 1, 2008.

HARVEY LYBOLT
Harvey Lybolt, a lifetime Middletown, NY resident, died Tuesday, June 24, 2008, at home. He was 89.
The son of the late Fred and Marion Colligan Lybolt, he was born November 14, 1918 in Middletown. He married Hazel Courtright on August 29, 1936 in Crawford, NY.
Harvey served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and was a member of VFW Post #4947 in Bloomingburg. He was also a retired peace officer of New York City.
A family statement reads: He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren who gave him such joy during his life. Harvey was a lover of all of the cats and dogs that were fortunate enough to have crossed his path. He had a sharp sense of humor that kept many people entertained, and his generosity was well known. He was known around Middletown for his tree work and his truck.
Harvey is survived by his wife Hazel, at home; a sister, Lettie Kaczmar of Middletown; three grandchildren, Kandi Saxton and husband Rich of Owego, NY, Lance Predmore and wife Mary Ellen and Dayna Predmore, all of Sparrowbush, NY; and five great-grandchildren, Melissa OFlanagan and husband, James of Poughkeepsie, Jared, Danielle and Jamie Predmore of Sparrowbush, and Ryan Saxton of Owego.
Harvey was predeceased by his daughter Joyce in 1985; and one sister, Emmaline Buck.
The funeral service was held on Saturday, June 28, 2008 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., Middletown, NY. Pastor Jack Lohr officiated. Burial followed in the Lybolt family plot at Wallkill Cemetery.
RICHARD H. MALL
Richard H. Mall of Jeffersonville, NY, a civil engineering technician, died Monday, June 23, 2008 at Catskill Regional Medical Center in Callicoon, NY. He was 67.
The son of Edward Valentine Mall and Lillian Lare Mall, he was born on October 12, 1940 in Callicoon.
Dick was employed as a civil engineering technician for the Soil and Water Conservation Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture as well as the New York City Watershed. He was a 49-year member and past chief of the Jeffersonville Fire Department, a member of the Buck Ridge Hunting Club, the Happy Footers Square Dance Club and the Briscoe Community Association. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served during the Vietnam War.
Survivors include his wife, Eva Bermel Mall at home; a brother, Thomas Mall and wife Georgeanne of Jeffersonville; one niece, Judy Mall of Liberty, NY; two nephews, Edward Mall and wife Tina, David Yanetta and wife Jill, all of Jeffersonville; one great-nephew, Hunter Mall; one great-niece, Marissa Marie Yanetta; and many cousins.
Services were Thursday, June 26 at the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home, Jeffersonville. Pastor Bridgette LeConey officiated. Firematic services were held Wednesday, June 25 at the funeral home.
Burial was made in the Jeffersonville Methodist Cemetery, Jeffersonville.

JILL D. VANSICKLE
Jill D. VanSickle of Montague, NJ and a longtime area resident, died Sunday, June 22, 2008 at Westchester Medical Center. She was 51.
She was born October 13, 1956 in Middletown, NY, the daughter of the late Hilton and the late Isabelle Lewis VanSickle.
She grew up in Slate Hill, NY, graduating from Minisink Valley High School in 1974. She was a breast cancer survivor who faced the world head-on and with courage. Jill loved to be outdoors and fishing was a pastime she and her longtime companion John Dickow shared. Jill loved animals, and dogs were a large part of her life including Toby, her American bull terrier.
Jill is survived by her sister Darlene VanSickle of Malta, NY; her brother Jimmy VanSickle of Sparrowbush, NY; her step sister Delight Hewitt Sanders of Henderson, NV; John Dickow of Montague, NJ; and Johns children, John, Anthony and Denise Dickow.
Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family.
