A picturesque annual tradition returns July 12
BARRYVILLE, NY The 15th annual River Road Fair will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 12.
The fair is half a mile of yard sales, antiques and collectibles, art and photos, quilts, jewelry and flea-market items. Started in 1993 as a way to raise money for the Barryville United Methodist Church, the fair took on a life of its own when it began attracting hundreds of visitors.
The scenic venue is a stretch of road running alongside the Delaware River. Visitors are invited to leave their cars at one end of the road and walk the half mile to the other end.
Attractions will include strawberry shortcake along with the garage sale at the Methodist Church, the annual art show by Eleanor Burrell of the Burrell River Road Studio & Gallery and a farmers market from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
This year there will also be a canned food drive. Drop off non-perishable canned and packaged goods at the Methodist Church.
The road is about four miles south of the Roebling Bridge, near the junction of routes 97 and 55.
