RICHARD A. FOUNTAINE

Richard A. Fountaine of Barryville, died Wednesday, June 18, 2008 in a car accident. He was 43.

The son of Raymond and Marge Babcock Fountaine, he was born in Franklin, NJ on July 23, 1964.

Richard was a truck driver for Deckelman Trucking in Cochecton Center, NY. A family statement reads: “Richard was a loving husband and a wonderful father. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.”

Survivors include his wife, Kathy-Joe Kinnery Fountaine, at home; his parents; four sons, Conner, Christopher, Raymond and Richard; one daughter, Maria; two stepdaughters, Allison and Amanda; one sister, Laura VanGorden and her husband, Jeff; one brother, Robert Fountaine and his wife, Cassandra; his best friend, Jeff Quarters; and several nieces and nephews.


GEORGE PATRICK GEIMER

George Patrick Geimer of Milanville, PA, a retired sales representative for Nabisco, died Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at Moses Taylor Hospital, Scranton, PA. He was 62.

The son of the late George Geimer II and Ann Fuetterer Geimer Handschuh and Edward Handschuh, he was born November 11, 1946 in Phillipsburg, NJ. George was a Vietnam veteran, having served in the Marine Corps as a sergeant.

George was a member of St. Joseph R.C. Church, Rileyville, PA, the Fox Ridge Hunting Club and the Wayne Pike Detachment of the Marine Corps League. He was an avid hunter and he loved the outdoors.

George was married for 29 years to Virginia A. Yates Geimer, who survives at home.

He is predeceased by a daughter, Samantha.

Funeral services were held on Monday June 23, 2008 at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, Narrowsburg, NY. Burial took place at Milanville Cemetery, Milanville, PA.


ISABELLE HENDRICKSON

Isabelle Hendrickson, a lifelong resident of Middletown, NY, and retired employee of Classy Leather Goods, died Sunday, June 22, 2008 in Middletown Park Manor. She was 81.

The daughter of the late Walter and Florence Smith McGinty, she was born July 9, 1926 in Middletown. She was the widow of Douglas Hendrickson.

Isabelle was a member of the Town of Wallkill Seniors, where she served as vice president and treasurer. She was a member of the Happy Seniors.

Survivors include her children, Linda Murns and her husband, Joel and Douglas Hendrickson Jr. and his wife, Elizabeth, all of Middletown; her foster daughter, Barbara Sheeley and her husband, Robert of Glen Spey, NY; her grandchildren, Kimberly Eddy, Douglas III, Megan, Joel, Jodi and Leah; six great-grandchildren; her cousin, Eleanor Dey; and her dear friends, Robert and Eileen Skidmore and George H. Delamarter.

She was predeceased by her sisters, Viola Fairweather and Irma McGinty; her great-granddaughter Jeanne Shimer; and foster daughter Trudy Ibbetson.

Services were held on June 25, 2008 at the Ralston-Lippincott-Hasbrouck-Ingrassia Funeral Home, Middletown, NY. Burial was in Wallkill Cemetery, Phillipsburg, NY.


ALVIN S. MINCKLER

Alvin S. Minckler of Greenville, PA, formerly of Callicoon, NY and a heavy-duty construction worker for Union Local #17 in Newburgh, NY for over 50 years, died June 20, 2008 at Woodland Place Care Center in Mercer, PA. He was 75.

The son of the late Sam and Erma Williams Minckler, he was born on July 27, 1932 in Stalker, PA.

He was a member of the Christian Assembly Church in Greenville, of the Hankins Assembly of God Church in Hankins, NY and Union Local #17. He served in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1952 and rose to the rank of corporal.

A family statement reads, “He was an outdoorsman and a longtime hunter and fisherman. He loved God, his wife, family and friends. He will be remembered as a kind, gentle, compassionate man.”

Survivors include his wife, Annette “Dolly” Farina Minckler at home; three brothers, Allen Minckler of Canastota, NY, Gerald Minckler of Long Eddy, NY and David Minckler of Jeffersonville, NY; his sister, Wanda Lare of Midland, NC; an aunt, Ellen Williams of Greenville; and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Ralph Minckler; three sisters, Alice Johnston, Bertha Swendsen and Edith Fuller; and his brother, Alfred Minckler.

Friends may call on Friday, June 27 at Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home in Callicoon from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Services will be on Saturday, June 28 at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. Reverend Daniel Farina and Reverend Andrew Farina, brothers-in-law of Alvin, will officiate.

Burial will be made in Halsey Cemetery, Long Eddy.

CLARA T. ‘PEG’ O’TOOLE

Clara T. “Peg” O’Toole of White Sulphur Springs, NY, a retired dietary supervisor and 36-year area resident, died Monday, June 16, 2008 at the Catskill Regional Medical Center, Harris, NY. She was 83.

The daughter of the late John and Clara Marck Dougherty, she was born April 28, 1925 in the Bronx, NY.

Clara had been the dietary supervisor for the Liberty-Loomis Hospital, the Community General Hospital in Harris and Callicoon, NY and for the Roscoe Community Nursing Home.

A family statement reads, “She loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was an avid NY Yankees fan.”

Survivors include two sons, John O’Toole and his wife, Joan of White Sulphur Springs and Thomas O’Toole and his wife, Christine of Monroe, NY; five grandchildren, Colleen O’Toole-Barber and her husband, Michael of Cochecton, NY, Thomas O’Toole and his wife, Jennifer of Ithaca, NY, Erin Haney and her husband, John of Owings Mills, MD, Thomas O’Toole of Monroe, NY, and Kelly O’Toole of Monroe; and four great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her devoted husband of 61 years, Thomas A. O’Toole, on May 7, 2006.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Thursday, June 19, in St. Francis R.C. Church, Route 52, Youngsville, NY. The Rev. Ignatius Vu officiated. Burial was held in the Calvary Cemetery, Youngsville, NY.

WILLIAM T. RUEBMAN

William T. Ruebman of Converse, TX since 2002 and a former resident of Hortonville, NY, passed away Thursday, June 12, 2008 in San Antonio, TX. He was 77.

The son of the late William and Hildegard Ebert Ruebman, he was born December 29, 1930 in Danbury, CT. He was the widower of Imogene “Jean” Ruebman, who passed away on June 30, 2006.

He was raised on the family farm in Buck Brook, graduating from Delaware Valley Central School in 1946. He entered the U.S. Air Force in 1948 and retired in 1974 as a Chief Master Sergeant, serving tours in Viet Nam, Thailand, Japan and elsewhere. He was awarded a Bronze Star, several Meritorious Service medals, Air Force Commendation medals and other decorations. Bill worked at the Sullivan County International Airport, and the Monticello Airport as the chief aircraft safety inspector and mechanic. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Allan Milk Memorial Post #7276, Long Eddy, NY and a life member of the Air Force Sergeants Association and the Air Force Association.

He is survived by his daughters, Barbara Sterchak of Garland, TX and Karen Murphy of Tampa, FL; three grandchildren, Shawn Murphy of Tampa, FL, Gwendolyn Sterchak of Allen, TX and William Sterchak of Garland, TX; his sister, Norma Ruebman Wightman and her husband, Peter of Morrow Bay, CA; his brother, Robert Ruebman and his wife, Wendy of Berkeley, CA; and several nieces and nephews.

A family memorial service will be held on August 3, 2008 on the family farm in Buck Brook. Interment will be alongside his wife, Jean, at the U.S. Army Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, TX.

CARL J. VOGT

Carl J. Vogt, of Shohola, PA, passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2008 at VNA Hospice of Monroe County, East Stroudsburg, PA. He was 99.

The son of the late Joseph and Gertrude Hipsman Vogt, he was born October 7, 1908 in Matamoras, PA. He was the widower of Evelyn Lindros Vogt.

He was the retired owner and operator of Vogt’s Garage in Shohola, PA. He was a life member, oldest living member and past chief of the Shohola Fire and Rescue in Shohola, PA; first zoning officer of Shohola Township, PA, and member of the Shohola Railroad and Historical Society. Mr. Vogt was an avid hunter and ice-fisherman.

Survivors include son Charles J. Vogt and his wife, Bonnie, of Bartonsville, PA; daughter Joanne Karpinich and her husband, Leo of Flemington, NJ; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his sister, Doris Mix.

A memorial service was held at St. Jacobi Lutheran Church, Shohola on Sunday, June 22, with the Rev. Rolf A. Buchmann officiating.
