Red Eft Gallery takes a closer look at the work of five local artists

WURTSBORO, NY — The Red Eft Gallery will present Closer Look 2, featuring the work of five artists who work in a variety of mediums including oils, pastels, watercolor, photography and sculpture, starting on Saturday, June 28. It is the second show to focus more closely on artists whose works were displayed in two omnibus shows earlier in the year. Described by curator and gallery creative director as “a powerful, eclectic show which is certain to excite everyone who sees it,” the exhibit will be kicked off by an opening reception from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Featured artists will include J.E. Capriano, who studied at The Art Students League in New York City and has received many awards and commissions. Known for her murals honoring the firefighters of New York, her work is widely collected.

Elissa Gore graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Design, and has since become best known for her large panoramic paintings in oil, watercolor and oil pastel.

William Rivelli, a graduate of Brown University, began his career in photography as assistant to photographer Nina Leen at Life Magazine, and later served in apprenticeship with Ralph Steiner. His assignments have taken him all over the world, photographing fashion, architecture and people from surgeons to coal miners.

Janice Mauro teaches figurative sculpture at Silvermine School of Art, CT and The Old Church Cultural Center, NJ. She has also created puppets for New York Broadway productions such as “The Lion King” and “Alice in Wonderland.” Mauro is a member of The National Sculpture Society and The Silvermine Guild.

Elinore Hollinshead was a part of the Boston University Summer Program in Florence, Italy, and the Ruskin School of Fine Art, Oxford University, England. Her work has been widely exhibited throughout the U.S. including the Painting Center and The Greenberg Wilson Gallery in New York City.

The Red Eft Gallery is open to the public on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 12:00 noon to 6:00 p.m. and on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 12:00 noon to 3:00 p.m.
