Pike holds ‘OK, cool’ welcome party

MILFORD, PA — The Milford Enhancement Committee’s 2008 Welcome Party, called “OK, cool,” will be held at the Governor’s Retreat in Dingmans Ferry, home of Lee and Sonda Miller, on Saturday, June 21 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. The Welcome Party tradition is now in its fifth year. The party is held early in the summer and hosted at a private home to welcome back seasonal residents and welcome new residents to the region. The event will include food, live music and goody bags.

Proceeds help fund the Milford Enhancement Committee’s on-going streetscape improvement work, including landscaping, sidewalks, curbs and historic-style pedestrian lighting.

This year’s party takes its theme from Arthur Frommer’s Budget Travel, which last year named Milford one of the “10 Coolest Small Towns” in America.

The Governor’s Retreat, a picturesque wooded property along the Dingmans Creek, was built in 1906 and named in honor of William C. Sproul, the home’s designer and Pennsylvania’s governor from 1919 to 1923.

“Lee and I are very pleased to be hosting this event. It is such a worthy cause and the Milford Enhancement Committee has done a tremendous job in preserving and improving the charm of our very special town, Milford,” said Sonda.

Tickets cost $50 per person and are by reservation only.
