CAS goes multi-media, courtesy of Arts & Heritage Grant

LIVINGSTON MANOR, NY — The Catskill Art Society Arts Center (CAS) has received a $1,750 grant that will help support quality multi-disciplinary programming (music, dance and film) to be presented in tandem with three CAS 2008 gallery exhibitions. This project is made possible in part with funding from the Sullivan County Arts & Heritage Grant, funded by the Sullivan County Legislators. Using the grant, CAS will present three performances.

The first event will be an evening of music and film, scheduled for Saturday, July 26, and it will run concurrently with the exhibit “After the Flood.” The second event, on Saturday August 23, will be an interactive evening of drumming and dance with Kofi Donkor’s Ghanaian ensemble, Sankofa, and will augment an art exhibit titled “Making Myths,” exploring the work of mask-maker Lynne Mayocole and sculptor Daina Shobrys.·The final event, on Saturday, October 4, will be a live performance by Livingston Manor sound artist Nick Forte. It will supplement Verdant Ground, an art exhibition featuring photography by Karen Bell and a sound installation by Forte. All performances will be at 8:00 p.m. and cost $5.
