Reflections of Wurtsboro Airport
Red Eft exhibit covers 80 years of airport history
WURTSBORO, NY The Red Eft Gallery, located at 159 Sullivan Street, will host a show dedicated to photography, aircraft models and sketch art related to Wurtsboro Airport from Friday, June 20 through Sunday, June 22. The exhibit will feature works by Chris Ramirez, Anthony M. Puopolo, Dick Padgett and Roger Baker.
Wurtsboro Airport is the oldest glider airport in the nation. Since 1927, Wurtsboro has been the home to hundreds of pilots from around the world and the location for many peoples first flight or experience with aviation. With antique bi-planes, gliders, and buildings set in picturesque Mamakating Valley, the show reveals a cross section of Wurtsboros past and present. This show is so different in the fact that you can go to the Gallery, admire the work, then drive just minutes up the street and take part in the action at the airport, said airport manager Dan Depew.
The hours of the show are from 12:00 noon to 6:00 p.m. The art work and the photography will be available for purchase by the public and the artists will be available for a closing reception with coffee, tea and cookies from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 22.
Gift certificates for glider, biplane and aircraft rides will be available at the show.
