Bethel speedway gets new lease on life

BETHEL, NY — The Bethel speedway, which has lain idle for more than a year, will be coming to life again this summer. Dave and Joanne Rocket, whose family raced the first race at the speedway 49 years ago, have negotiated an agreement with FGR, Inc., to revive the closed facility.

A spokesperson from FGR, Inc. said, “Given their past success at race track promoting, the choice for us to have the Rockets’ control operations here was easy. They are the most proven promoters of this historic track, operating it for seven years with a very successful program.”

An opening date in July is projected. More information will be released at a meeting to be held at the Hilton Garden Inn, 15 Crossroads Court and Route 17K in Newburgh on Sunday, June 15 at 7:30 p.m.
