GRAHAMSVILLE, NY — For Tri-Valley’s Garrett Grey, recent individual and team championships are part of the ongoing saga of a career that is destined to continue after his graduation. Grey signed a letter of intent to attend Slippery Rock University this fall. The school is located in Slippery Rock, PA.

Grey will be heading to the national high school track and field championships in Greensboro, NC later this month. Grey qualified for the hammer throw and javelin.

In other sectional action, Liberty’s Malcolm Strother won the 200 (22.75) in the Class B meet. He took fifth in the 100 and sixth in the high jump. Teammate Greg Castro took third in the pole vault (11-6).

Kim McKay won the 400 hurdles (1:10.88) and the pole vault (9-3). Freshman Jessica Dunnigan took second in the 100, third in the 200 and triple jump.

In Class A, Monticello’s Jessica Fingers won the 3000 (10:07.06) and took second in the 1500. Pollyanna Palhano was second in the pentathlon with 2,231 points, in which she won the 100 hurdles and the shot put.

Brendan Devine finished second in the 3200. At the Fast Times Relays, Sullivan West’s girls 1600 relay team set a new school record of 4:13.86.
