Equinunk honors veteran Lind

EQUINUNK, PA — Equinunk Historical Society will honor veteran Albert Lind on Saturday, May 24 at 1:00 p.m. There will be a walk to Equinunk Cemetery to place veterans’ flags, followed by an ice cream social on the grounds of the society. For more information call 570/224-6722.

Memorial Day commemoration

HONESDALE, PA — The Upper Delaware Unitarian Universalist Fellowship will present a service entitled The Universal Soldier led by Marianne Avery and Tom Repasch on Sunday, May 25 at 11:00 a.m. Please bring a photograph (framed or unframed) of your deceased or disabled loved one who served in our country’s armed services.

Fremont parade and service

FREMONT, NY — There will be a ceremony at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, May 26, followed by a parade at 10:00 a.m. There will be a Veterans Service at St. Mary’s in Obenburg at 3:00 p.m. afterwards, with refreshments.

Lumberland remembers

Memorial Day parade

LIBERTY, NY — The Cpl. Russell D. Sprague Post #109 of the American Legion and the Town of Liberty will hold a Memorial Day parade on Monday, May 26 starting at 10:30 a.m. The march will go through the business district, down Church Street and up Cold Spring Road to the Liberty cemetery, where a memorial service will be held in memory of fallen war heroes.

MONTICELLO, NY — There will be a ceremony at the veterans monument at the government center at 10:30 a.m., with the Hon. Felix Ortiz, chairman of the NYS Assembly Veterans Military Affairs Committee, as keynote speaker. Following the services, refreshments will be offered by the Monticello Elks Lodge.

NEVERSINK, NY — There will be a ceremony at Grahamsville Cemetery at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 26.

ROSCOE, NY — There will be a parade at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 26 followed by Ceremony at West Field Flat Cemetery with a guest speaker.

WOODRIDGE, NY — There will be a memorial service on Sunday, May 25 at 4:00 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Park on Green Avenue, with refreshments following the service at the town hall.

WURTSBORO, NY — There will be a parade and ceremony at Veterans Memorial Park on Monday, May 26 at 1:00 p.m. on Sullivan Street, followed by refreshments, barbeque and music at the Mamakating Post on 92 Pine Street.

Yardsale-O-Rama

LIBERTY, NY — The Village of Liberty’s annual Yard-O-Rama will take place on Saturday, May 24 and Sunday, May 25. The event, in its fifth year, features yard sales conducted all over the village, with a map of locations to guide buyers.

The 2008 Yard-Sale-O-Rama maps may be found at www.yardsaleorama.org, at the Liberty Farmers’ Market and at locations including the town and village halls (120 and 167 North Main Street), Liberty Public Library (189 North Main Street), Floyd & Bobo’s Bakery (98 North Main Street), Town & Country Antiques (corner of North Main Street & Darbee Lane), Green’s Grocery in White Sulphur Springs (Rt. 52 and Shore Road) and Catskill Harvest Market (Rt. 52, opposite the Town Barn).

The 2008 Yardsale-O-Rama is dedicated to the memory of Allan Berube, one of its originators, an avid collector and a relentless bargain-hunter.

St. James Fair

CALLICOON, NY — The annual St. James Fair, under tents along Route 97 near the intersection with Route 17B, will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 24 and at 12:30 to 3:30 on Sunday, May 25.

Adults can scoop up bargains at the yard sale and bake sale while kids will be entertained with free fun and games presided over by the Loretto family. There will be second-hand books, fine glassware, crafting supplies, exercise equipment and more—even a toboggan. For more information call 845/887-5454.

Flea market on the flats

NARROWSBURG, NY — The Narrowsburg Chamber of Commerce will hold a town-wide yard sale on Saturday, May 24 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. In addition to yard sales held at individual houses, vendors have been invited to set up tables at the children’s playground down by the flats. The rain date will be Sunday, May 25.

Indoor yard and bake sale

BEACH LAKE, PA — The Christian Education department of the Beach Lake United Methodist will hold its annual indoor yard and bake sale on Saturday, May 24, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the church on Milanville Road. Proceeds go to a fund for children wishing to attend Methodist-affiliated Sky Lake Camp. All items may be purchased on a donation basis. Free Fair Trade coffee and tea will be available for all shoppers.

Trifles & Treasures sale

LORDS VALLEY, PA — The 18th Annual Trifles & Treasures Sale will be held at The Church at Hemlock Farms on Saturday, May 24 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. There will also be a bake sale, hand-made crafts and a silent auction. Snacks and lunch will be available. Geraniums can be pre-ordered by calling 570/775-0145.

Donations can be dropped off at the church on May 22 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and on May 23 from 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
