Revitalized Villa rises from ashes
CALLICOON, NY The Villa Roma Resort and Conference Center is set to reopen its hotel this summer. The building was destroyed by an accidental fire in April 2006, but the resort is now close to completing a $27.3 million construction of a new main hotel facility and enhancement of guest amenities.
The grand opening will take place later this year; in the meantime, the golf course has been open for business since April. Upcoming golf events are the Catskill Cup on July 20 and the Sullivan County Democrat Tournament on August 1, 2 and 3. This October the resort will host a Pro-Am event.
In addition to many renovated one- and two-bedroom luxury suites, the reconstructed hotel will feature new amenities including a 600-seat ballroom, lounge and dance club, 150-seat café, 30-person Jacuzzi spa and a new outdoor water playground. Villa Roma also offers its guests five pools, an indoor tennis and fitness center, a 1,000-seat night club and show room, an 18-hole championship golf course, club house and catering facility, arcade, bumper boat pool, go-cart track, horseback riding, spa, gift shop, bowling facility, supervised childrens programs, wireless Internet and corporate meeting rooms.
The silver lining from the fire is that we were able to build a new Villa Roma and its better than ever, said vice president Paul Carlucci, who has been a partner in the property since 1984. After two years of planning and construction of our new and improved luxury resort, we can finally open the doors this summer and offer our guests an enhanced guest experience while still being that great getaway close to home.
