‘Closer Look 1’

WURTSBORO, NY — Red Eft Gallery’s new exhibit, “Closer Look 1,” will focus on five of the 20 artists whose work was included in the two “First Look” shows held earlier this year: Michael Gold, Cynthia Hall, Liz Innvar, Joan Mellon and Marlene Wiedenbaum. This works will be on display from May 17 through June 15. An opening reception will be held on Saturday, May 17 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

The show includes representational, abstract and semi-abstract work, in a variety of mediums including oils, pastels, watercolor, photography and sculpture.

Photographer Gold’s work has been printed in The New York Times, Fortune, Esquire and many other publications, and has been just as widely exhibited. Hall received her M.F.A. from SUNY New Paltz, and has taught and exhibited throughout the U.S. Innvar studied drawing and painting at the New York Studio School and horticulture at SUNY Farmingdale. She is a landscape designer by day, a profession that is reflected in the floral themes of her art.

Mellon has exhibited and won many awards primarily in New York City and the tri-state area. Known as a remarkable colorist, she uses color in a deceptively simple way to convey a feeling of contemplative calm. Wiedenbaum describes herself as “an impassioned realist.” A master of pastels and landscape, she is a graduate of Queens College and SUNY New Paltz, and has taught and exhibited throughout the United States.

The Red Eft Gallery is located at 159 Sullivan Street. It is open to the public on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 12:00 noon to 6:00 p.m. and on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 12:00 noon to 3:00 p.m.
