Air Force veteran lands on Monticello comedy stage
MONTICELLO, NY Rodney Laney will be the headliner of Catch A Rising Star at Monticello Gaming & Raceway at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 17.
Laney took an unusual route to get to the stage: his comedy career started in 1988 in the Air Force. While stationed at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, OH, Laney accompanied a fellow airman, an amateur comic, to a comedy club. His friend bombed, but Rod took the stage and received thunderous applause.
Catch A Rising Star comedy clubs have been a tradition since 1972, when the first club opened in New York City. Among its roster of alumni are Robin Williams, Billy Crystal, Rosie ODonnell, Jerry Seinfeld, Bill Maher, Richard Belzer and Ray Romano.
Tickets for the show cost $15.
