The River Reporter’s sports editor Richard Ross wins fourth consecutive Golden Media Award from BCANY

NARROWSBURG, NY — For the fourth consecutive year, The River Reporter’s sports editor Richard Ross was awarded the Golden Media Award by the Basketball Coaches Association of New York (BCANY) for his outstanding coverage of high school basketball during the 2007-08 season.

Ross has been a recipient of the award every year since its inception in 2005. The Basketball Coaches Association of New York, Inc. is an organization of basketball coaches of all scholastic and collegiate levels throughout New York. The organization was founded in 1983 and its mission is to promote the sport of basketball statewide at all levels, and to improve the quality of coaching, foster friendships and statewide interaction of basketball coaches.

In prior years, Ross was the sole winner of the award. This year, other recipients include Derrick Balinksy of the Hornell Evening News, Jeff DiVeronica of the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle, Dave Shea of the Ogdensburg Journal, Kevin Stevens of the Binghamton Press and Sun Bulletin and Shawn Vargo of the Corning Leader.
