Conservancy celebrates 10,000 acres

UPPER DELAWARE REGION — The Delaware Highlands Conservancy raised almost $9,500 at an April 26 gala celebration marking the organization’s achievement of protecting 10,000 acres within the Upper Delaware watershed by 2007. Pictured at the five-course dinner and wine tasting at The Settlers Inn are Conservancy executive director Sue Currier, left, founder Barbara Yeaman and president and Settlers’ chef Grant Genzlinger.

The Conservancy recently set a new goal of protecting another 10,000 acres by 2010. It has opened a new office in Sullivan County’s Monticello Government Center in addition to its office in Hawley, PA. “There is much more to be accomplished as our area continues to grow at a rapid pace,” said Yeaman.
