Dark comedy comes to CineArt screen in May

CALLICOON, NY — The Delaware Valley Arts Alliance and the Callicoon Theater will present director Martin McDonagh’s “In Bruges,” starring Colin Farrell, Ralph Fiennes and Brendan Gleeson as their May CineArt presentation. Screenings will be Friday, May 9 through Monday, May 12 at 7:30 p.m., with a matinee on Saturday, May 10 at 2:00 p.m. at the Callicoon Theatre, 30 Upper Main Street. Admission costs $7.50.

The film centers around two Irish hit men holed up in Bruges, Belgium after a difficult job, who begin to differ on their views of life and death as they become used to local customs.

Roger Ebert said “In Bruges” is “an endlessly surprising, very dark human comedy, with a plot that cannot be foreseen but only relished. Every once in a while you find a film like this, that seems to happen as it goes along, driven by the peculiarities of the characters.”

A percentage of the profits and $1 per person from ticket sales benefit the programs and services of the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance, the Arts Council for Sullivan County.
