Students translate Monet, Van Gogh in ‘Encaustic Impressions’

LIVINGSTON MANOR, NY — Artwork from the drawing and painting class at Livingston Manor Central School is on display at Peez Leweez, on Pearl and Main Street. The exhibit will run through Sunday, June 29.

The show is titled “Encaustic Impressions.” Students have taken the works of Monet and Van Gogh and transformed them into their own, using a technique that involves the fusing of wax (or crayon) into a continuous layer after application. This process works especially well with the styles of the impressionist era.

Spring hours for Peez Leweez are Monday thru Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and Sunday, 9:00 am. to 3:00 p.m.
