Mastering technique in Callicoon
CALLICOON, NY Callicoon Art Classes, led by artist Thomas Bosket, will be holding workshops and discussion groups at 4:00 p.m. on Sundays in the Curtis Building (behind the library at the New York end of the bridge) starting in May. Artists of all levels are invited to participate. Boskets first workshop will be Byzantine Portrait Painting, which will provide an opportunity to learn to work with egg tempera. It will run from May 18 to June 15. Workshops on painting local plants and the river are planned for later in the summer. A discussion group on current controversy in photography, led by Dana Duke, and another on Art Exclusivity and Fear, led by Bosket, are also in the works.
Bosket received his MFA from Yale University, developed an artists raw materials course at Pratt Institute and was awarded distinguished teacher of the year at Parsons School of Design in 2002. He has taught at Pratt and Parsons School of Design in New York City for 12 years, and his particular interests are raw materials for the artist (from a studio practice perspective), drawing (anatomy) and painting (egg tempera, oil, and acrylic).
Drop-ins are welcome, but there is limited space, so reservations are recommended. The workshop registration fee is $15.
