Thieves steal antiques shop sign

BARRYVILLE, NY — The owner of an antiques shop is trying to figure out how to replace the sign that pointed the way to her place on River Road in Barryville before the Memorial Day weekend when the season kicks into high gear.

Conni Visneski, proprietor of Until Next Time Antiques & Collectibles, said the double-sided sign was stolen sometime between 6:00 p.m. on April 26 and 12:00 p.m. on April 27. Visneski said she thinks someone took the sign as a souvenir because the person or persons went to a good deal of trouble to detach the sign from its mounting.

She notified the state police about the theft, and the officer who came to write the report had trouble locating the shop. “That’s because they stole my sign,” she said.

She estimates it will cost at least $1,000 to replace the sign.
