Top 10 photography book

the focus at Hamish & Henry

LIVINGSTON MANOR, NY — Ramiro Fernandez will discuss his new book, “I Was Cuba: Treasures From The Ramiro Fernandez Collection,” at Hamish & Henry Booksellers at 34B Main Street on Saturday, May 10, at 4:00 p.m.

Fernandez, a West Palm Beach-raised Havana native, is an art historian and a photo editor of 25 years with various Time Inc. magazines. He is also a collector of vintage Cuban photographs, images captured over the course of a century, from the 1860s to 1965. As a witness to the revolution in his youth, Fernandez’s consuming passion has been to build a photography collection that can serve as a testament to the Cuba he remembers. His collection, which includes more than 3,000 works, is considered to be the most extensive private collection of Cuban photography in the world. His book was selected as one of the TOP 10 Photography Books of 2007 by Amazon.com.

The event is free and light refreshments will be served. For more information call 845/439-8029.
