Quilt event to wind up with trunk show

LIVINGSTON MANOR, NY — There will be a trunk show on the final day of the quilt show “The Great Outdoors—Quilts Celebrating Nature,” Sunday, April 27 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Morgan Outdoors, 46 Main Street. The public is invited to participate by bringing a quilt they’ve made or inherited (maximum of two per person). It’s an opportunity to admire quilting artistry and workmanship and pick up techniques from the quilters present. There’s also a child-friendly “Eye Spy” game and many playful, colorful quilts that make this a family-friendly outing.

“The Great Outdoors,” on display April 6 – 27, showcases quilts that celebrate the joy in creating from nature’s inspiration. Each of the 15 quilters wrote a personal statement describing the inspiration for their work, which gives a personal look behind the scenes. Ray Fernekes of Rock Hill was inspired by his father, who is a sportsman and loves the great outdoors. “I made this quilt for him, using a mixture of pictures of wilderness creatures and animals representing the four seasons. I am a new quilter and have only been quilting for two years,” said Fernekes.
